With the winter days behind us and the first day of Spring to celebrate, now is the perfect time to get out and do some essential property maintenance.
Here are our tips for maintaining your property this Spring:
Clean Your Gutters
Gutters usually require cleaning twice a year to prevent them from getting blocked by debris and leaves. After Autumn / Winter it can be easy for leaves to build up in your gutters. If they aren't cleared it can cause damage to your property, so whether you can do it yourself, or you need to hire a professional, it's definitely worth doing.
Inspect Your Roof
Depending on what type of roof you have, usually determines what problems might occur, but spotting any roof problems early could save you a lot. If you are confident with heights you can use a roof ladder, but this usually isn't necessary, and taking a look from ground level you can usually spot any problems.
Common problems to look out for:
- Tiled Roofs - any loose, dislodged or missing tiles
- Flat Roofs - cracks or splits around the edge, any sagging, or if you have any damp patches on your ceiling the roof may have a tear
A loft can usually be a good indication of how your roof is looking. It's also a good idea to check your loft for any unwanted visitors, as this can prevent further damage.
Repair Paint
Repainting any outdoor areas where the paint is chipping or cracking, is a good way to prevent any rot. But it's not just outdoor you have to worry about, looking at your window and door frames, and spotting any problems early can you yourself time and money in the long run.
